Task force seeks grant to study best uses for former GM site By LAURA BOMYEA JOHNSON NEWSPAPERS/Watertown Daily Times (NY) APRIL 7, 2010MASSENA - The North Country Redevelopment Task Force is hoping to tap into a grant program to help determine the best use for the site that will be left behind when the General Motors Powertrain plant is demolished this summer. Task force officials are preparing to apply for a $400,000 to $450,000 state Brownfield Opportunity Area grant to plan suitable reuses for the 270-acre property. "The study is about how to best market the site," Task Force Chairman Patrick J. Turbett said. "The study will help us understand what we can do with it." ...
