WILTON - A meeting next week will explain a federal process used for determining if two business sites are polluted.

What Brownfield Assessments are and what it means for the Wilton Tannery and the Western Maine Development Group LLC (formerly the Nichols/Bass Building) will be explained during a public hearing at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 7, at the Town Office.

First phase site assessments that include historical research of how the sites were used have been completed on both sites, said Janet Cummings of the Androscoggin Valley Council of Governments. Information about the findings will be shared.
