Solar panels could be installed at unused landfill By Jeffrey D. Wagner Somerset Herald News (MA) December 14, 2010FREETOWN - What was once a place for trash could soon become an environmental treasure. Town authorities Tuesday will meet with a company that plans to install solar panels at the landfill, located in the Howland Road transfer station. Interim Town Administrator John Healey said it will be the second meeting the town has had with a company about installing solar panels at the landfill. Healey said doing so will generate revenue because the town will lease the site to the company. The company will then generate electricity and sell it to local utility providers. ...
