Lot sales ready to resume JOE FERGUSON Arizona Daily Sun January 9, 2011After a fourth round of tests, Flagstaff officials now believe there are no significant levels of benzene and tetrachloroethylene in the soil of a midtown housing development. City Manager Kevin Burke said the city will soon resume plans to sell at auction the 20-acre property of which it had taken ownership last year. Recently released soil vapor reports related to the southern half of the Aspen Place at The Sawmill found only minor contamination on the site -- nowhere near the levels that forced the city to suspend plans to sell the property several months ago. The resumption of the auction is good news for taxpayers -- until the property is sold, the city of Flagstaff is responsible for roughly $8 million in bond payments. ...
