Officials: Brownfield bill advances By Jenni Vincent Martinsburg Journal (WV) February 10, 2011MARTINSBURG - Jefferson County Commissioner Lyn Widmyer vividly recalls the surprise, coupled with frustration, she felt last year when state officials approved the proposed development of the Old Standard Quarry without any input from local officials. It was especially upsetting, she said, since both the Jefferson County Planning Commission and Charles Town had turned down the brownfield proposal only to have it approved by then-West Virginia Development Office Executive Director Kelley Goes. However, thanks to a proposal now working its way through the legislative process, that may never be a problem again locally, according to legislators who've sponsored a bill that specifically addresses this situation. ...
