By DON JACOBSON Minneapolis Star Tribune (MN) February 27, 2011Moves to redevelop polluted Minnesota "brownfields" into jobs- producing new commercial real estate projects essentially began in the 1990s with the passage of a batch of legislation that offered up tax dollars to local governments as incentives, and has since been used to leverage billions of dollars in private investments. But in these budget-cutting times when grants from state agencies are under the ax, redevelopment experts are drawing attention to an important but little-known tax relief tool available for property owners that could play a big role in keeping costly brownfields reclamation projects alive. ...
