Freescale Semiconductor contractors recently began drilling to sample soil gas at 26 locations in her Lindon Park neighborhood near 52nd Street and McDowell Road. Soil gas refers to atmosphere present in the ground that could be tainted by chemicals and rise through the soil into homes and other buildings. Freescale Semiconductor is updating its soil-gas data from 1995 to determine whether, and where, to sample indoor air. The goal is to determine if there's a health risk from exposure to low levels of the chemicals over a long period of time, said Janet Rosati, a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency project manager. ...
