Testing reveals toxins in soil at city's former Red Cedar golf course Expert: Public health risk 'extremely low' by Lindsay VanHulle Lansing State Journal (MI) June 16, 2011The closed Red Cedar Golf Course in Lansing is contaminated with metals, including arsenic, cadmium, mercury and selenium, a recent environmental study shows. The elements likely are the result of use years ago in fertilizers or pesticides, according to the study's author, Soil and Materials Engineers Inc., based in Delhi Township. The site will be cleaned, but when that happens depends in part on the fate of a proposed mixed-use development there. "Contamination identified ... may impact future redevelopment of the Property," the report states, adding that further study of the metals' impact "will likely be needed." ...
