Environmental CAG to survey in-Plume residents BY LESLIE SCOTT SUBURBAN TRENDS (NJ) JULY 17, 2011The Pompton Lakes Works Site Environmental Community Advisory Group (CAG) will perform a door-to-door survey to determine why some residents have not gotten a vapor mitigation system installed. It was in the spring of 2008 when DuPont and the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) announced that high levels of tetrachloroethene (PCE) and trichloroethene (TCE) vapors were being emitted into homes in a section of the borough called the Plume. The vapors were emanating from the groundwater that was contaminated when DuPont operated a munitions factory in the borough from 1902 to 1994. When this was announced in 2008, DuPont had already developed plans that would provide each property in the Plume with a vapor mitigation system that would remove these vapors from the property. ...
