Historic Missoula Mercantile owner: Demolition, abatement to begin soon By JENNA CEDERBERG Missoulian (MT) November 5, 2011The dust isn't flying yet, but redevelopment plans for the Historic Missoula Mercantile are slowly but surely moving forward. Peter Goergen, spokesman for the Virginia-based investment firm that bought the former Macy's building now standing empty in the heart of downtown Missoula, said the company is close to finalizing plans to get the "abatement and demolition" phase of the project off the ground. Octagon Capital Partners bought the building in January and re- christened it the Historic Missoula Mercantile. The firm wants to turn the 113,000-square-foot building into mixed-use space while maintaining its historical presence. Some cleanup is necessary before later phases of renovations begin. ...
