Final Factory H demolition bid approval expected next week By Richie Rathsack Meriden Record-Journal (CT) November 16, 2011MERIDEN - City officials updated the Brownfield and Blight Committee Wednesday on the status of projects including the Factory H demolition and new grant applications. Excitement to begin the much-anticipated demolition of the old factory came across while officials spoke. John Bondos of AECOM, an engineering consultant working with the city, said the final bid approval to move forward with demolition of Factory H will likely come within a week and preparation for demolition will start shortly after. "We're getting close to making a decision," Bondos said. "We're about ready to get rolling with the project." City Manager Lawrence Kendzior said completion of the demolition is slated for February. Committee Chairwoman Robyn-Jay Bage, of the Women and Families Center, said there should be some kind of celebration on that day. Everyone gave a smiling acknowledgement, saying something will definitely be planned to mark the occasion. ...
