No contamination found at Little Ferry school BY KARTHIK AGGARWAL LITTLE FERRY LOCAL MARCH 22, 2012LITTLE FERRY - Test results of ground water samples collected March 8 from two monitoring wells at the Memorial School show that contaminants were not detected. The ground water sampling was done by Environmental Waste Management Associates (EWMA), an environmental consulting and remediation firm, on behalf of J.S. Popper Inc. EWMA Director Al Moffit said at the March 13 council meeting that the Popper site, located at 200 Liberty St., has the solvent trichloroethylene, or TCE, in both soil under the building and in ground water. Moffit could not say the amount of contamination at the Popper property.The Popper site, formerly used for metal producing, now has a warehouse. According to Moffit, operations ceased in 2002 at the site, and it was under New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) oversight to investigate "potential areas of concern" related to the former operations. ...
