Davis Park, train station plans get $1 million from Illinois By Corina Curry Rockford Register Star (IL) May 12, 2012ROCKFORD - The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency awarded $1 million in River Edge Municipal Brownfield Redevelopment funds to Rockford Thursday, helping to pave the way for an expansion of Davis Park and a new Amtrak passenger rail train station downtown. The state grant will be used for environmental cleanup at key downtown properties — the former Tapco facility, 222 Cedar St.; the former rail depot site 815 S. Main St.; and the old Lorden/Eclipse site, 715 S. Main St. The depot and the Lorden building were demolished in 2011. The Tapco building, a long-standing eyesore, will be torn down this summer. ...
