New building in Phipps Conservatory is greenest of its kind David Templeton Pittsburgh Post-Gazette (PA) May 24, 2012The bright, modern building newly tucked behind the Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens in Oakland features old-barn wood siding, lots of windows and a rooftop garden. But the Center for Sustainable Landscapes, which held its grand opening Wednesday, is drawing attention for qualities less obvious: Situated on a 2.65-acre brownfield site, it represents America's largest green building at 24,350 square feet that can claim net-zero energy and water usage.
