Valley elementary school chooses students' health over money

PHOENIX - A Valley school district had to decide between money and ensuring their students' health 100 percent.

Freescale Semiconductor offered Brunsun-Lee Elementary School $20,000 a year to build a waste-water pipe underneath their elementary school.

The waste-water the pipe would carry is contaminated with a very dangerous chemical.

Experts say the pipe would pose almost no risk, but worried parents argued if the proposed pipe near 50th Street and McDowell Road in Phoenix were to spring a leak, their children could get sick.

At a Balsz Elementary School board meeting Tuesday, board members agreed with parents.
