Roseland to clean up brownfield

ROSELAND – All six members of the Borough Council agreed to introduce  
an ordinance during their public meeting Tuesday, July 24, that would  
approve a redevelopment plan for an 18.45-acre brownfield site at the  
end of Woodland Road on the corner of Steel Court.

For at least the past 25 years, this former site of Resistoflex sat  
fallow leeching contaminants, which, according to Maser Consulting,  
have been migrating through the soil and groundwater toward West  
Caldwell homeowners on adjacent Westview Road and on Dalewood Road  
just beyond Westview.

A former 2,000-gallon underground storage tank remains on the site,  
Jay had said, plus a 3,000- gallon aboveground storage tank  
containing trichloroethylene, along with a septic tank, a septic  
drain field and a metal-cuttings drainage area.
