Winsted selectmen updated on brownfield remediation projects

WINSTED - Although public updates from consultant Arthur Bogen have been intermittent latgely, Bogen has kept tabs on the development with Winsted’s brownfield revolving loan fund and presented the Board of Selectmen with status updates on the fund’s recipients.

The fund, which was created by tapping a revolving loan fund from the Environmental Protection Agency, is being used to fund remediation of several properties on Gay Street for the Winchester Housing Authority and the cleanup of land near Whiting Mills. Since signing off on the two projects, Bogen noted the developments on both initiatives, although the Gay Street project could consume the rest of the money available for grants.

“There exists the possibility of additional funds being granted to them in order to pay for the additional contents of the cleanup,” Bogen said.
