CHELSEA: Federal Screw Works demolition complete; brownfield work begins By Sean Dalton Chelsea Standard (MI) January 4, 2013Demolition of the Federal Screw Works building in Chelsea is complete and contamination at the site is being addressed. C&I Dismantling has completed demolition of the building, clearing the way for brownfield remediation, which is the process of dealing with any contamination at the site. The Federal Screw Works property, which now consists of 2.5 acres of land where the former Chelsea Screw Co. once operated, will undergo $321,000 of blight removal, in order to make the property developable. FSW property owner Renee Papo of Ann Arbor-based Magellan Properties and his partners are already lining up prospective tenants for the mixed use development that will be built on the property after the site is clear of environmental concerns. ...
