DEC finalizes plan for IBM chemical cleanup by Anthony Borrelli Binghamton Press & Sun-Bulletin (NY) January 11, 2013ENDWELL - The state Department of Environmental Conservation’s final plan to clear contaminants from a former IBM chemical burn pit on Robinson Hill Road has been approved - but it could take time to see results. The state’s plan, released in December, involves sending a substance to eat away industrial contaminants into the groundwater at the 57- acre site. The property was home to a small electronics testing laboratory and used by IBM Corp. to dispose of waste chemicals. A nearly 600-foot plume extending near a residential zone holds various contaminants - chlorinated solvents and trichloroethylene (TCE) - resting about 50 feet underneath the top of Robinson Hill Road, according to the DEC. ...
