Holley targeting old schools, brownfields By Tom Rivers Batavia Daily News (NY) January 22, 2013 12:30 amHOLLEY - Village residents want to see the former Holley High School either be spruced up and reused, or demolished so the prominent land is no longer an eyesore. The old school was called a priority project during a public meeting Monday about brownfields, sites that may be contaminated or carry that stigma. The village received a $67,500 Brownfield Opportunity Area Program grant from the state. The grant will pay for a plan to identify brownfields in the community and develop action steps for reusing the property. The old school has gradually fallen into a state of ruin. It's been vacant for about two decades. Some residents are still hopeful the building could be reused for residential or commercial uses. ...
