ReVenture Park wins NC brownfield approval Susan Stabley Charlotte Business Journal (NC) March 12, 2013N.C. Gov. Pat McCrory signed off on a brownfield agreement this week that allows for the development of the long-delayed "eco-industrial" ReVenture Park. ReVenture Park was announced in 2009 as a future home of a 50- to 100- megawatt biomass power plant that would anchor the redevelopment of a 667-acre Superfund site. The project then faced a series of delays in obtaining funding, air-quality permits and a waste pact with Mecklenburg County. ReVenture's plans to turn Mecklenburg County's trash into electricity ultimately fell apart. But by last summer, ReVenture developer Tom McKittrick said plans for a biomass plant were back on - this time as a a 1.4-megawatt plant using technology developed by a Locust company. ...
