Charter School Moving Ahead with Expansion Plans Despite Rejection of
Tax-Incentives

(WKBW) A spokesperson for the South Buffalo Charter School says expansion plans will go forward despite having a one- million dollar tax-credit package denied by the Erie County Industrial Development Agency (ECIDA). South Buffalo Charter School is looking to build a new $20-million dollar elementary school on the site of a brownfield at 154 South Ogden Street in Buffalo. ...Brownfield cleanup has already begun on the 27-acres of land where the school will be built. According to information posted on the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation website, the land was a former industrial dump site and includes volatile organic compounds, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, and heavy metals to depths of 17-feet below the surface. ...
