A welcome solution for water mystery in Intercourse State steps up to help residents By AD CRABLE Intelligencer Journal/Lancaster New Era (PA) July 8, 2013Ten frustrating years since an industrial contaminant began showing up in the drinking water used by Intercourse homes and businesses, a safe public water system is on its way. By late 2015 or early 2016, the first public water should begin flowing to about 500 connections that will serve the Leacock Township tourist town and growing residential developments surrounding the community. "I keep thinking I'll be retired before I get this thing done," says Frank E. Howe, a township supervisor for 27 years. "It's like anything that goes through environmental agencies — it just takes time." Intercourse's long path to clean water began in 2003, when the developer of the planned Watson Run development performed required water-quality tests on new wells to serve its homes. ...
