The City of Greenwood met Tuesday with residents of the Greenwood Mill Village to discuss the results of the environmental testing recently performed at the old mill site on Kitson Street.

While various contaminants were found in some soil and groundwater samples at the site, environmental experts said the contamination is not as bad as they have seen at other former mill sites in other cities. Officials met with mill village neighborhood association members Tuesday at Lowell Street United Methodist Church. Speakers in attendance included Greenwood city manager Charlie Barrineau, SCDHEC's Angela Gorman and CTC Public Benefits Corporation's Gail Rawls Jeter. CTC Public Benefit Corporation was contracted by the city to perform the environmental testing on the old mill site.
