DuPont-Stauffer cleanup begins

NEWBURGH - Remediation of the DuPont-Stauffer hazardous waste site in  
the City of Newburgh has begun seven years after a record of decision  
was approved by the state Department of Environmental Conservation.

The large site is classified as posing a significant threat to the  
public health or environment.  The property, at 750 South Street, was  
used for industrial purposes including a coating agent for car seats  
and interiors and later production of PVC sheeting.
