Arcadia Brewing Co. to be reimbursed up to $325,000 for removing
contaminated soil from Kalamazoo site
By Emily Monacelli Kalamazoo Gazette (MI) October 17, 2013KALAMAZOO, MI -- The Kalamazoo Brownfield Authority on Thursday authorized reimbursing Arcadia Brewing Co. an additional $75,000 for a total of up to $325,000 to dispose of contaminated soil at its future Kalamazoo site. About 2,800 cubic yards of contaminated soil needs to be disposed on the site. The board in January agreed to reimburse Arcadia up to $250,000 for site work, including digging up the contamination and filling the hole with suitable soil or sand. Jerome Kisscorni, Kalamazoo assistant city manager and economic development director, said the Arcadia site at 701 E. Michigan Ave., which formerly housed a Consumers Energy building, is more challenged than most Brownfield sites in the city. ...
