Seeking development, DeBary creates brownfield zone near SunRail station By Mark Harper Dayton Beach News-Journal January 16, 2014DEBARY - With an eye toward speeding up development near the new SunRail station, the City Council this week established a brownfield area over the objections of at least one landowner. A 4-1 council vote Wednesday reflected the majority support for the brownfield, an area designated for redevelopment after having real or perceived contamination. Brownfields are considered tools to help lure jobs, but some question whether the label might do more harm. The brownfield encompasses areas near SunRail, a commuter train line scheduled to start service in May. The boundaries stretch across both sides of U.S. 17-92 on the south end of the city and include the Springview Commerce and Benson Junction Industrial areas. ...
