Pompton Lakes citizens' group trying to get property value protection plan for Plume residents

The local group "Citizens for a Clean Pompton Lakes" (CCPL) is looking to get homeowners in The Plume some help in the way of a property value protection plan.

CCPL is conducting a survey in partnership with the Pompton Lakes Community Advisory Group to gather information to try move forward with achieving a property value protection plan.

During an interview on Jan. 17 with Suburban Trends, CCPL founder Lisa Riggiola said 520 surveys were mailed out on Feb. 6 to every property owner impacted by the contamination that was created when DuPont operated a munitions factory in the borough from 1902 to 1994, which left heavy metals and chlorinated solvents in the soil and groundwater and in the sediment of the local streams and rivers.
