Contract extension OK's with state for brownfield redevelopment By Christopher Michel Olean Times Herald (NY) May 14, 2014OLEAN – It's business as usual for redevelopment efforts aimed at large section of north Olean.
City aldermen unanimously approved a one-year contract extension with the state for work to bring new economic life to the city’s brownfields During Tuesday's Common Council meeting. The brownfields are a 500-acre section of north Olean where industrial contamination dating back to the 1800s has impeded redevelopment
The adjusted agreement expires Oct. 6, 2015.With an additional year, officials from both the city and Bergmann Associates, a Rochester-based engineering firm the city hired in August 2012, have more time to complete studies of the land and develop a master plan to guide redevelopment on the site.
