A reimbursement request from Tim Horton's in Tecumseh was approved unanimously Monday by the Tecumseh City Council during a special meeting prior to the regular council meeting.

The company made the request to be reimbursed $77,763.22 for eligible brownfield redevelopment activities associated with building the coffee and doughnuts shop at 901 W. Chicago Blvd. The action will be reported to the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality's Remediation and Redevelopment Division/Brownfield Redevelopment Unit.

The environmental cleanup was needed because the property was formerly a dry-cleaning business. Among the costs associated with the cleanup were the assessments of materials in the ground, the removal of an underground storage tank, and the demolition and removal of the building, parking lot and utilities on the property.
