Drilling begins along Capitol Mall State monitors underground plume
of pollutants

(KCRA) - Workers have started drilling three wells directly in front of California's Capitol building to monitor the moving plume of pollutants below downtown Sacramento. One of the wells is expected to be at least 150 feet deep, according to the Department of Toxic Substances Control. The department has been working with Union Pacific Railroad to clean up contaminants left behind at the downtown railyards and monitor the movement of pollutants in the groundwater beneath the city. ...
