Federal lawsuit alleges Johnson Controls polluted By ROGER SCHNEIDER Goshen News (IN) June 4, 2014 GOSHEN - Groundwater pollution from the former Johnson Controls industrial site that is under Goshen High School and nearby homes is the subject of a federal lawsuit filed by city residents. Ronald and Sonya Schmucker, Stephen and Lori Vandiepenbos and Richard Stewart are suing to have Johnson Controls Inc. and Tocon Holdings clean up the trichloroethylene (TCE) pollution. The pollution is from the former plant on Monroe Street. The plant is in the process of being demolished. The plaintiffs are residents or own rental properties in the effected area. The suit, filed May 29 in federal court in South Bend, alleges that vapors from the TCE have been detected under the high school’s foundations and beneath homes near the high school. Also, the TCE has polluted groundwater up to 170 feet deep. … For the entire article, see http://www.goshennews.com/local/x2117440263/Federal-lawsuit-alleges-Johnson-Controls-polluted -- Lenny Siegel Executive Director, Center for Public Environmental Oversight a project of the Pacific Studies Center 278-A Hope Street Mountain View, CA 94041 Voice: 650-961-8918 or 650-969-1545 Fax: 650-961-8918 LSiegel@cpeo.org http://www.cpeo.org _______________________________________________ Brownfields mailing list Brownfields@lists.cpeo.org http://lists.cpeo.org/listinfo.cgi/brownfields-cpeo.org | |
