Bus stop near CTS eliminated Asheville Citizen-Times (NC) June 9, 2014ASHEVILLE - Buncombe County school officials said Monday they have eliminated the bus stop at 275 Mills Gap Road after testing showed unsafe levels of the pollutant TCE in and around the home at that address and two nearby trailers.
On Friday, the EPA recommended 13 people move from their homes because of the vapor.
The property is near the former CTS plant, which residents have been trying to get cleaned up for years.
School officials are working “with the students and families in the affected area for alternate stop locations as needed. Additionally, BCS has adjusted the bus stop at the intersection of Mills Gap Road and Surry Run to travel into the Hidden Valley Farms subdivision to provide service to students,” according to a news release from the county school system.
