DEC anticipates decision on former Homogeneous Metals site By STEPHANIE SORRELL-WHITE Herkimer Telegram (NY) November 17. 2014HERKIMER - A decision regarding the cleanup of a former industrial site should be made soon, according to a state Department of Environmental Conservation official. The site of the former Homogenous Metals Inc. facility on West Canada Boulevard in Herkimer has been ongoing through the state's Brownfield Cleanup Program the past few years. Tom Mailey, state DEC director of media relations, said in an email Friday "the DEC anticipates a Decision Document for the site, that will be the final cleanup plan, before the end of the year." Mailey also said "the DEC expects that Homogeneous Metals Inc. will implement the remedy shortly after the Decision Document is issued." ...
