ADRIAN - The new owner of the Adrian Mall has requested a funding plan from the city of Adrian that would allow it to be reimbursed for demolition work on part of the building.

Dallas-based Tabani Group would use for brownfield tax increment financing (TIF) to support demolishing the former Sears Auto Center so it could proceed with about a $2.5 million redevelopment project for a new retailer.

Chris Miller, downtown development authority and economic development coordinator for the city of Adrian, said Tabani is “very close” to announcing the new business.
