The agency has scheduled indoor air sampling this week and perhaps in March in an area of approximately 60 homes or businesses generally bounded by Queen Street to the south, Fall Creek to the north, Lake Street to the east and Tioga Street to the west. It is a continuation of indoor-air sampling done last year at 21 properties to gather soil vapor intrusion samples, according to DEC spokesman Jomo Miller. The testing was begun after a consulting firm working for the City of Ithaca in May 2013 reported that trichloroethylene, known as TCE, showed up in one of several test wells into the groundwater downhill from the gun-factory site. … For the entire article, see http://www.ithacajournal.com/story/news/local/2015/02/23/testing-resumes-downhill-gun-factory-site/23907977/ -- Lenny Siegel Executive Director, Center for Public Environmental Oversight a project of the Pacific Studies Center 278-A Hope Street Mountain View, CA 94041 Voice: 650-961-8918 or 650-969-1545 Fax: 650-961-8918 LSiegel@cpeo.org http://www.cpeo.org _______________________________________________ Brownfields mailing list Brownfields@lists.cpeo.org http://lists.cpeo.org/listinfo.cgi/brownfields-cpeo.org | |
