New water line meant to fix Madison pollution for 13 by Kaitlin Durbin Mansfield News Journal (OH) March 31, 2015 MANSFIELD – Madison Township residents left Tuesday's pollution meeting with good news and bad news. The good news is that the 12 Madison Township residents and a school that exhibited dangerous levels of a toxin in their drinking water will see new water lines installed and their old wells abandoned at the cost of the Environmental Protection Agency. Construction on the water line is scheduled to begin late May, and will last roughly 67 days. The bad news is residents in the 50 other homes in the area, which did not register dangerous levels, will have to pay $5,000 to receive the same, should they wish to abandon their wells. … For the entire article, see http://www.mansfieldnewsjournal.com/story/news/local/2015/03/31/madison-waterline-epa/70753670/ -- Lenny Siegel Executive Director, Center for Public Environmental Oversight a project of the Pacific Studies Center 278-A Hope Street Mountain View, CA 94041 Voice: 650-961-8918 or 650-969-1545 Fax: 650-961-8918 LSiegel@cpeo.org http://www.cpeo.org _______________________________________________ Brownfields mailing list Brownfields@lists.cpeo.org http://lists.cpeo.org/listinfo.cgi/brownfields-cpeo.org | |
