Subject: | [CPEO-BIF] A Proposal To Improve Institutional Control Effectiveness Through Better Mapping |
To the Brownfield Community,
Institutional and engineering controls become more effective when the boundaries are clearly mapped and when boundaries are described as polygons formed by latitudes and longitudinal points. This post examines the impact of poor geographic descriptions that accompany most institutional controls, offers background on how institutional controls are recorded, and invites supplemental descriptions that contain latitudes and longitudes. Once latitudes and longitudes are provided, the IC can be readily viewed in web mapping and GIS systems, and ultimately be more readily applied by local governments, developers, and the general public for safeguards in use. We believe these changes can be initiated administratively within oversight agencies. _______________________________________________ Brownfields mailing list Brownfields@lists.cpeo.org http://lists.cpeo.org/listinfo.cgi/brownfields-cpeo.org | |
