Groundwater cleanup of Whittaker-Bermite site could begin this year By Jim Holt Santa Clarita Signal (CA) July 7, 2015 The pumps, pipes and cleaning machinery needed to decontaminate groundwater on Santa Clarita Valley’s toxic Whittaker-Bermite site is expected to be up and running within the year, state officials said this week. Construction needed to put the infrastructure in place — such as pipes and pumps — could take about 10 months to complete once the Santa Clarita issues permits for the work, said Russ Edmondson, spokesman for the state’s Department of Toxic Substances Control.
