Consultant company shows interest in Quackenbush site

An official with the Herkimer County Industrial Development Agency said a consultant company has shown interest in rehabilitating the former H.M. Quackenbush property.

Stephen Smith, IDA executive director, said Asbestos and Environmental Consultant Corp. visited various brownfield sites throughout the area last week, including the Quackenbush property between North Prospect and North Main streets in Herkimer.

Smith said AECC is interested in “the investigation and implementation of remedial solutions in support of reuse of the site.”

“Out of all the sites they visited, they felt it has the best chance of being remediated and getting to be reused,” Smith said.
