Kingston economic development chief has high hopes for waterfront brownfield plan By Ariel Zangla Kingston Daily Freeman (NY) November 12, 2015 KINGSTON >> The city’s economic development director said he is hopeful the Kingston Waterfront Brownfield Opportunity Area Implementation Plan will lead to investments along the city’s Rondout Creek waterfront. “We think this will inspire investment in the waterfront,” Gregg Swanzey, the director of the city’s Office for Economic Development and Strategic Partnerships, said Thursday evening after a public hearing on the draft generic environmental impact statement for the plan. Swanzey’s comments followed a brief hearing to solicit comment on the impact statement prepared as part of the implementation plan. Peter Barnard, an urban designer for the Poughkeepsie environmental group Scenic Hudson, was the sole speaker at the hearing. Barnard said his agency had been involved in the implementation plan’s development from the start.
