Agencies continue cleanup at New Lex apartment building By Bill Rockwell Perry County Tribune (OH) December 15, 2015The process of eliminating a possible carcinogenic contaminant from a local apartment complex has netted positive results. Recent air quality tests conducted by the Ohio EPA found trace amounts of the carcinogen Trichloroethylene (TCE) near the New Lexington Village Apartments. As a precaution, the EPA, Ohio Department of Health and Perry County Health Department conducted subsequent air quality testing over after preliminary results found small amounts of (TCE) which is commonly used as an industrial solvent or a cleaning agent to remove grease from metal parts. ...Bryant said that precautions have been taken to remove the contaminant from the apartments with “A vapor suppression system being placed in one of the apartments with a level of concern and the proper agencies are continuing to monitor the situation.” ...
