Gateway, Solean projects move forward; DEC seeks further cleanup By RICK MILLER Olean Times Herald (NY) September 4, 2016 OLEAN - The state Department of Environmental Conservation is seeking public comments on the brownfield cleanup at 251 Homer St., Olean. Owned by Benson Construction and Development Corp. and Homer Street Properties LLC, both of 221 Homer St., the 16.6-acre vacant property is bounded by Interstate 86 and railroad tracks on the southeast, commercial businesses on the northeast and southwest, and commercial and residential properties to the northwest. BQ Energy, the Poughkeepsie-based company involved in the Solean project at the Olean Gateway, last year announced plans to buy the property for an array of 12,000 to 15,000 solar panels that could net the city of Olean about $90,000 a year in electricity savings. The $15 million solar power-generating facility is expected to generate enough electricity to power 700 homes. ...
