IBM cleanup: 'Big issues behind us' in Endicott by Tom Wilber Binghamton Press & Sun-Bulletin (NY) September 29, 2016 Cleanup efforts have significantly lowered levels of a toxic solvent found in indoor air at the Huron Campus in Endicott, according to the most recent tests at the storied manufacturing site. While officials cited the results as a sign the 35-year cleanup at the plant — once a centerpiece to IBM Corp.’s global business empire — is heading toward the “home stretch,” critics warned against complacency. Locations affected by trichloroethylene, or TCE, pollution at or above the state exposure guideline fell from 71 in 2005 to five, according to a report by Sanborn Head Engineering, an IBM contractor.
