National Grid invests $300,000 in Olean Gateway

OLEAN - National Grid has invested $300,000 in the redevelopment of the former brownfield site where Olean Gateway LLC is working to construct six buildings featuring a hotel, a free-standing restaurant and commercial retail space

The $17 million commercial development is being managed by The Krog Corp., based in Orchard Park. The National Grid grant, announced Thursday, will help remediate the 58-acre brownfield site, including removal of hazardous waste, installation of required infrastructure and development of building foundations for reuse purposes.

“This is an exciting project for Olean and the surrounding area as it will create new jobs and revitalize what was once a contaminated industrial site,” said Kenneth Kujawa, regional manager for National Grid. “Economic development that takes advantage of existing sites, especially brownfields, provides lasting benefit in the host community.”
