DEC prepares site cleanup of New Hartford metals plant By GREG MASON Utica Observer-Dispatch (NY) Apilr 22, 2017 NEW HARTFORD - The state Department of Environmental Conservation will consider the available options for cleaning up a 42-acre brownfield site at a metals manufacturing facility. The DEC recently completed its investigation of the site at the Special Metals Corp. facility on Middle Settlement Road. The site is part of a greater property that’s owned by Special Metals. Located within the brownfield site’s boundaries are the company’s main plant, rolling plant and pilot plant.
