Camdenton Would Never Bring Polluted Well Back Online, Mayor Says by Connye Griffin Lake Expo (MO) April 26, 2017 CAMDENTON, Mo. - Camdenton city leaders are working to shore up citizens' faith that their government is trustworthy and their water is drinkable. Mayor John McNabb welcomed media representatives and concerned citizens to a meeting on Wednesday, April 26, in order to affirm Camdenton’s resolve “never … to hide anything about” the City’s water supply. “The elected officials and employees of the City are always concerned about the welfare of our citizens and the community,” McNabb said. As an Alderman in 2007, McNabb learned about the water quality issues involving the Mulberry Well. He has since said to others that he would “never vote to bring [Mulberry] Well back on line; he would never take that risk” even if the well were to test free of TCE (trichloroethylene) at some point in the future. The City’s greatest concern in the matter involving 221 Sunrise, the site of former Modine Manufacturing, is water quality and not the costs to test and remediate the well. The City needs “to do the right thing,” the Mayor added.
