Ranson ready to restart downtown centerpiece redevelopment by TIM COOK Martinsburg Journal *WV) June 6, 2017 RANSON - The crumbling brick shells of long-abandoned factory buildings were torn down years ago. The industrial lead and asbestos contaminants were laboriously and expensively removed. Countless truckloads of dirt leftover from area construction projects– and a few cemeteries — have filled and leveled off the site. Now, after an unnaturally green slurry mix was sprayed there several days ago, the needle-like shoots of grass have started to spike through the pebbly ground. “If it becomes nothing more than a park, then it is better than what it was before,” reflected Ranson Mayor Keith “Duke” Pierson.
