USA-BMX deal depends on environmental cleanup of Evans-Fintube site

Before it can become the home of USA-BMX, the Evans-Fintube industrial site must be cleaned of decades-worth of contamination.

Michelle Barnett, Brownfields Program coordinator for the city of Tulsa, said funding from federal grants is ready but that a lot of work has to be done before the site is ready.

“We still have soil cleanup to be done out here,” Barnett said. “The plan is to start outside and then move to the interior.”

So far, the city has completed about $200,000 worth of cleanup, according to city officials.
