Tax credits for brownfields cleanup sought for former GMAC tower project By Richard Craver Winston-Salem Journal(NC) July 25, 2017 The renovation of the former GMAC Insurance building could include a brownfield cleanup, according to a legal notice filed Tuesday with state environmental regulators. Local business leader Don Flow and Charlotte-based developer Grubb Properties announced March 16 they will redevelop the 18-story building and an adjacent site extending to Fourth Street into a business center with retail spaces and apartments. … The brownfield request to the N.C. Department of Environmental Quality is necessary because of part of the 4.3-acre property’s used to be a Goodyear Tire and Auto Service. The site also housed gas stations.
